Micro Wedding at Mahogany Ridge, Trinidad

When Camille contacted me a month before her proposed wedding, she said she remembered me from school being her house captain and how passionate I was at encouraging them to come out for march pass practice. I mean wow that was taking me back some years and that had me laughing. And after catching up with Camille and Steaven, I was so excited to be a part of their day.

We’re back in 2022 where the return of large weddings is here! But no, not Camille & Steaven. They chose to keep it small, an intimate micro-wedding at Mahogany Ridge in Paramin Trinidad. Not because there was a mandated restriction, but because it was their dream. A special morning committing to one another with their closest.

Now the weather had been grim ALLLLL week. I mean Orange Level alerts were issued by our Met Office. Stay dry and stay inside. But when I woke up on Saturday morning, I couldn’t believe our luck. The sky was the brightest blue it had been in daysss and everything was bright. All signs of good things to come!

I pulled up to Mahogany Ridge and was greeted with its fabulous views of Trinidad’s North Coast, and their resident doggies who got lots of pets, obviously.

Mahogany Ridge is a perfect spot for intimate weddings in Trinidad. It’s one of my favourite locations for wedding portraits and really any type of session.

The views are breathtaking - overlooking our stunning Caribbean Sea and all the lush mountains. I mean wow. That alone makes an extraordinary backdrop for bridal portraits, but there’s so many other ‘picture-worthy’ spots. Here’s a few reasons why I rave about Mahogany Ridge:

  1. The friendly dogs that live there !! Just kidding, but really I love seeing them.

  2. You can rent it for 2 hours, which is more than enough time for wedding portraits, an engagement session or some fun family photos. Of course there are options to rent for the day or weekend.

  3. It’s a safe, private location where you can pack on all the PDA without worrying about anyone.

  4. There’s the cutest gazebo that you can host ceremonies & proposals, like Camille & Steaven did.

  5. There are two rooms available that you can rent for the night! So if you’d like to start your honeymoon or make a weekend out of your shoot, it’s the perfect spot to cozy up in the mountains with a glass of wine or coffee. You can find the rooms here.

  6. Lastly, even when it’s rainy - Mahogany Ridge is a vibeeee. The mist rolls in and it becomes this hazy, romantic dream for photos and trust me we make the most of it! So rain or shine, I guarantee your pictures will be epic, esp if I’m behind the lens ;)

But back to the wedding - It was a beautiful micro-wedding, with guests very near and dear to our couple coming to join the festivities. The decor was so tastefully done by Lake Management and the food was divine. Whilst everyone chatted after the ceremony, we ran away for some dreamy couple portraits, complete with all the views. Have a look at some of my favourite moments from their day at Mahogany Ridge.

If you’re considering an elopement or a session at Mahogany Ridge and would like me to be there to capture it, message me here and let’s start chatting! xx
